How long have you been CrossFitting? March will be 3 years!
What is your favorite WOD/Exercise? My favorite exercises are barbell snatches and wall walks, but I like anything barbell & gymnastics :)
What is your least favorite WOD/Exercise? Thrusters :/
What is your previous workout/athletic background? I grew up playing a variety of sports and narrowed them down to both English and western style horseback riding and running. I ran both cross country and track in high school-love some long distance running! In college, a friend introduced me to CrossFit and I've been loving it!
What was your first experience at CrossFit Cayman like? Super welcoming! Everyone has been friendly, helpful, and really welcomed me into the community. I have also really enjoyed the programming and feel I have made lots of improvement since joining CrossFit Cayman.
What results have you seen since CrossFitting? Physically I am a lot stronger than I was three years ago and I can see that in my workouts daily. I also feel that I have gained mental strength and better discipline since joining CrossFit and it has helped me in various aspects of my life.
What do you do to get yourself through a tough workout (mental thoughts, tips and tricks, etc.)? I like to be able to see the time and make goals based on the clock, for example pick up the barbell again at X time. I also try to encourage myself mentally because I am capable and will be more proud after the workout if I push my pace.
What's your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman? The community :) As I mentioned, everyone has been very welcoming. CrossFit Cayman has been a great outlet for me outside of veterinary school as well as a place I can meet new friends in my new home!
What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman? Go for it! I think CrossFit classes have motivating benefits that encourage new athletes to stick with the gym. I really enjoy the group class working alongside others, having a coach to consult and help you with technique, and having a workout ready for you daily. I like CrossFit Cayman's programming because it is a mix of everything and I feel that I have gained the most strength and fitness from this programming. We also have awesome professional coaches that are helpful with scaling workouts and improving form and technique.
