julianaaom

Name: Juliana Smith
Age: 32
Hometown: Brasilia, Brazil
How long have you been CrossFitting? Almost 4 Years
What is your favorite WOD/Exercise? Filthy Fifty, believe it or not! It’s brutal but I like the variety. I also really enjoy doing gymnastics stuff.
What is your least favorite WOD/Exercise? Burpees and thrusters
What is your previous workout/athletic background? I’ve always played sports, but my favourite ones are Tennis, Volleyball and Soccer.
What was your first experience at CrossFit Cayman like? The coaches were very passionate not only about exercise, but also about eating healthy. Then I met Tarasa and knew I was on the right track!
What results have you seen since CrossFitting? What I wanted to do the most since I started was pull-ups and I was able to do that after about 6 months. Took a while but I’m still very proud! :) Since then, I’ve only gotten stronger.
What do you do to get yourself through a tough workout (mental thoughts, tips and tricks, etc.)? I try to breathe and maintain a steady pace. If it’s a movement I’m not good at, I take my time but pick a number of reps or time I’d like to achieve so that I have to keep pushing myself. I find that when I do hit that goal, I want to keep going.
What’s your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman? I really like that the coaches know our limitations so well and are able to cater to us as individuals, even when it’s a big class.
What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman? Do it! If you are dedicated you will definitely see results.

Name: Wade Smith
Age: 33
Hometown: Vancouver, BC
How long have you been CrossFitting? I started back in August of 2013, but only went a few months. In July of 2014 is when Juliana and I really got committed/addicted.
What is your favorite WOD/Exercise? Chippers. Gymnastics and barbell WODs. I also like interval WODs either with schedule rest time or on Saturdays with a partner. For exercises I like stuff from the rack or cleans, pull ups, T2Bs, double unders…
What is your least favorite WOD/Exercise? Helen. I suck at kettlebell swings and the feeling in my forearms afterwards is terrible. For exercises I am not a big fan of kettlebell swings, box jumps, rowing, dumbbell snatches, burpees, sit ups and many more.
What is your previous workout/athletic background? I trained Muay Thai in my teenage years. Played American Football and Rugby in high school as well. Lifted weights in the boring gym.
What was your first experience at CrossFit Cayman like? This question made me feel old because I can’t really remember! Although, it must have been great because I’m still here!
What results have you seen since CrossFitting? It has definitely put me in the best shape I have ever been in. I used to think I was decently healthy and in shape, but quickly realized how little I knew about food and working out when I joined CrossFit. Wish I discovered it many years earlier.
What do you do to get yourself through a tough workout (mental thoughts, tips and tricks, etc.)? I tend to think about everything in percentages. Sometimes it works well, other times not so much. I’ll try and figure out exactly what rep is 50% through the WOD so that I know I am over half way done.
What’s your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman? The people. Its a great group. I actually started CrossFit thinking that it would be good to meet new people that weren’t from work and then everyone from work joined CrossFit Cayman.
What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman? If you actually want to gets results and are bored of bicep curls, then here is your answer. I’ve seen a lot of people come into CrossFit Cayman and transform themselves into incredible athletes.
