 How long have you been CrossFitting? 2 years

 What is your favorite WOD/Exercise? Anything with Pullups and Cleans

 What is your least favorite WOD/Exercise? Anything with Pushups and Hand Stand Pushups!

 What is your previous workout/athletic background? I’ve played sports my whole life. Soccer, cricket, tennis, field hockey and rugby as a kiddy. Then high school was all rugby which carried on a year into Uni. From there I stopped contact ruggers and continued with 6 down touch rugby as well as making the unfortunate decision to attempt a triathlon. I tend to sink like a brick and I absolutely detest long distance running, but road cycling and then mountain biking were great fun. I haven’t cycled since arriving on island though.

 What was your first experience of CrossFit like? A kick in the nuts…I have two distinct memories of my first WODs. Half Cindy on a Saturday Morning open day at the Industrial Site that left me passed out for 20 minutes afterwards…and then my 2nd Induction class that following Thursday. Matt showed us Overhead Squats with a 45lb bar…At 10 reps my fingers started tingling. Matt said I should stop if it gets worse…at 20 reps I couldn’t feel my hands…the next day I’d lost all feeling to my arms and they’d become as useless as a T-Rex’s. This lasted two weeks! I couldn’t hold a mug of coffee, shave…a trip to the loo became a daunting task…Matt said he’d seen it before, but never this bad.

 What results have you seen since CrossFitting? I don’t go numb on Overhead Squats and I can actually squat below parallel! When I started I was so stiff in the hips and shoulders that when I did a pigeon/hip stretch you could fit a medicine ball under me. I am without a doubt in the best shape of my life, and still consistently seeing progress. With what I’ve been shown on eating and nutrition, I’m healthier than ever. If I was a dog, my nose would be wet, and my coat would be sleek and shiny. Admittedly, I now have the booze tolerance of a 12 year old girl, but it makes for a cheap date.

 What’s your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman? Seeing the same faces in the morning, every morning, no matter what. My 5:30am class has stayed remarkably consistent.

 What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman?—It’s not Cultfit…you can take it to whatever level you want.
